THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE

26 September 2016

You may remember from this post that I spent eight months unemployed, or actually I was employed but I just hadn't started work yet. Well, the day came that I actually started and I am now back on the 8-5 grind. It feels great but I won't lie, the struggle is on in finding the "work life balance" we all crave, and in a country which is fast paced and frantic it seems all the more difficult.

So on a rare Friday morning last week which Warren and I both had off we decided to not go out for breakfast or to the mall and instead chose to head to the beach with the dogs - Gidget & Gizmo for those who haven't met them!

We set out at 6.30am to beat the heat and after getting lost on the way several times we finally met up with our friends who also have two delightful dogs - Bullet  & Bubbles.

Our dogs have never been to the beach so we really weren't sure how they would react but after watching their new friends bounce in and out of the water they were ready to give it a go!

At first they weren't too sure but their natural instinct soon kicked in and off they went. I think it helped that the water was lovely and warm, a bit like a big bath!

As it was a weekend morning the beach was alive with lots of other people doing the same thing and it soon became a very social doggy morning...

Which Gidget found particularly exciting as she bounded down the beach to meet her new friends.

Turned out they were all very friendly and just wanted to make new friends of all sizes!

After much play time it was time to frolic in the water again, but this time Gidget and Gizmo wanted only to wallow in the shallows.

They still weren't completely sure you see...

But Bullet was dying to show off his skills of towing a boogie board and so off he went with Gidget in tow...

Safely getting her to shore where she stayed for the rest of our time.

And after a few hours it was game over with everyone worn out and wanting to take a nap, so that's exactly what we did. It was only about 9am by this time but it felt like we had been there the whole day.

After a long crazy week this was exactly what we needed, so much so I think we will be there again this weekend!

For those in Abu Dhabi and want to find this particularly dog friendly beach you can try here but it may take some off roading to get there!
