If you find yourself in Abu Dhabi and want a fairly authentic way to pass an hour or so than I highly recommend heading down to Mina Zayed Port.
It's lively and filled with fish markets, fruit & veg markets and then the market place that we explored. More like a souq, all the shops are joined together and it's filled with homeware, kitchenware, plants, camping equipment and many more random items.
When you first drive up to it you may be inclined to just keep on driving, and granted it doesn't look that great but if you get out of the car and ignore the staring shop keepers than you will have a most delightful time!
It's a great place for people watching and seeing the locals barter the price down for bits and bobs you didn't know existed.
Shopping at this place is a bit like a shopping trip to IKEA, you know you don't really need the items but when faced with cheap prices it becomes hard to say NO!
So most likely you will end up with baskets you have no need for or plants for your non-existent outdoor area.
Not the most tourist worthy attraction in Abu Dhabi but somehow it still holds some old world charm which is sadly lacking in the city.
Thanks for stopping by!
